The FinTech Imperative: Building Nature Positive Outcomes – Green Shoots Series, 7 April 2022
How can we ensure our next generation benefit from the wonders of nature and the ecosystem services it provides – from oceans and mountains to the animal kingdom? What actions can businesses take to protect our world and its biodiversity?
Nature loss poses both risks and opportunities for business, now and in the future. More than half of the world’s economic output – US$44tn of economic value generation – is moderately or highly dependent on nature.
The Task Force for Nature Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) seeks to develop and deliver a risk management and disclosure framework for organisations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks, with the ultimate aim of supporting a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes. In March 2022, the TNFD released a first beta version of the framework.
In this Green Shoots series event, hear from Darian McBain, Chief Sustainability Officer, MAS, in conversation with TNFD Executive Director Tony Goldner about the TNFD process, what they are hoping to achieve for nature, and updates on the Beta Framework. Tony will then be joined on stage by Herry Cho, Managing Director SGX, Head of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance, and Board member of the TNFD plus other guests to discuss nature related risks and the potential implications for the region.
